This week
We have had a jam packed week celebrating Anti Bullying week this week! We started off with odd socks day on Monday, then we had our whole school online kindness assembly looking at how we can support one another and develop kindness. We were particularly excited, as Willow from Finland, said a way to be kind is to give a smile and Greig from the 52 lives gave us a shout out! On Wednesday, we had Segun in to do a drama workshop with the children which the children thoroughly enjoyed! We also had some special visitors from Swing gate this week, Miss Parry, Mrs Hier and Mrs Wells. They popped up to see how the Year 3's were settling in and are so pleased at how happy and settled they are. Lots of smiles all round. Yesterday, we took our fantastic production club to see Mary Poppins and the children and show were AMAZING! It was an extremely late night but the children were so wonderfully behaved and had such a great evening! Today our pupil parliament members also led worship for Children in Need (we are nearly at our target!) and shared a beautiful story. To celebrate odd sock day we are also trying to get some new pet odd sock pictures up in the dining hall - so if you can manage to get some odd socks on your pets, please do send them in to us! We love seeing them! Have a wonderful weekend.
Oracy question: Would you rather it be dark all day and night or light all day and night?

Worship
On Monday, Father Stuart led our worship on Micah and the message of the Prophets. Isla and Evie led us in a beautiful prayer and had a moment of silence in it, which was very brave! On Tuesday, we celebrated remembrance day and had a whole worship on the armed services with a two minute silence - it was wonderful to come together and be calm and reflect. On Thursday, we celebrated kindness and today we celebrated our values in action and Children in Need.

The Book Fair is here!

We will be hosting another book fair in the library from the 17th to 21st November. This is a fantastic fund-raiser for the school library, last year we made over a £1000 to spend on new books which is a massive boost for us. We all love the library here at Thomas Coram and we like to keep the shelves full of books that encourage the children to read more widely!

The book fair is a great opportunity for the children to practice shopping and purchasing things for themselves. Each class will have slot to come and have a look around and I will also be open during lunchtime for each year group. Children that would like to bring in money are asked to have it in a named envelope which can be handed to the class teacher to be looked after. There will be a wide variety of books and a range of stationary as well which is very popular! I will be open after school if you would prefer to come in with your child and purchases can be paid for by card via a QR code on your mobile phone.

The children are always very excited about the book fair and enjoy having a browse amongst the shelves but please remember you don’t have to purchase anything. I do always remind them they can borrow the library books for free!

Meet the new FOTC trustees!
We’re delighted to welcome three new trustees to the FOTC charity board! Their experience and enthusiasm will be a fantastic addition as we continue working with the TC community to raise funds that support and enhance children’s learning and wellbeing.

Shape the future of FOTC
We’re looking for another trustee to join us to help keep things running smoothly at FOTC. This could include supporting our platforms and systems, coordinating ongoing activities (like grants, Easyfundraising and Vinted), or helping steer our strategy — though we’re very open to people shaping the role around their skills and interests.

We’re also on the lookout for Leads for our big “Hero Events” (the Quiz Night, Summer Fair, etc.) and plenty of volunteers for everything from social media and poster design to crafting, planning and more.

Could this be you? Get in touch.

Dress Down Day for a Hamper Donation - Friday 21st of November
This is the last year our current organiser will be running the FOTC Santa Sleigh night, so we’re looking for someone to take the reins next year.  The role— recruit helpers and be the main contact (the Rotary Club does most of the organising). Fancy giving it a go? Get in touch to shadow this year to see how it works.

We also need volunteers to help collect donations during the Santa Sleigh to cover the George Street area.
