This Week
Well done to all of our fabulous Year 4 children for completing their multiplication check this week - you have been amazing! This week we have had another set of Chromebooks and a trolley delivered, as we were very lucky to receive a donation from the Lawton Trust run by Charlotte Love, thank you so much! The children are so fortunate to now have three trolley loads of tech and will be a great addition for us as a school. We have had our Eco Week this week, with a small litter pick form our Green Guardians on Wednesday and a lesson from Malawi yesterday and our power down day today. We have tried to use less power today - which of course is very tricky in todays world - so well done everyone for trying. A big well done to Mexico class today for their fantastic class assmebly! Also, very much looking forward to the next few weeks with everything that is taking place but particularly for mid July when Year 6 do their end of year production - I have heard the singing and it has been excellent! Have a lovely weekend.
Staffing Updates
As you know, when we approach the end of the year there are many things to balance and prepare for. One of those being staff changes and class changes. I am hoping to let parents and children know by 26th June of the plans for next year. But in the meantime, Mrs Forbes and Mrs Millard will be retiring at the end of the year and want to take this opportunity to thank them for all their hard work over the (many) years! Miss Fielding and Mrs Hendeles will also be leaving to take on new roles outside of teaching, again a huge thank you for all their hard work. Mrs Hendeles will be doing tutoring outside of school, so please do send an email to the office if you would like to contact her. We are also delighted to say Mrs Forde, our year 5 intervention teacher and year lead, will be the new Assistant Head from September and we can't wait to welcome her into her new role. We have also employed two new teachers and will be delighted to welcome them to Team TC. More information to follow re all of the teachers, once that info is released.
Free School Meal Eligibility from September 2026
As some of you may be aware the eligibility criteria for FSM is changing from the 1st September.  If your family receives universal credit (UC) you will be entitled to receive FSM. There will be two categories;
Targeted FSM - which continues to be based on the existing threshold, covering pupils who are in households in receipt of UC with annual household earnings of £7,400 or less.
Expanded FSM - a new category covering pupils who do not qualify for targeted FSM, but who are in households receiving UC.
Receiving FSM does not mean your child is automatically entitled to receive pupil premium. If you think you may be entitled to benefit related FSM from September you will need to make an application. Applications for FSM for September are open now and you can apply either via the form or link below.  If you have not applied by the first day of term we cannot guarantee your child will receive FSM from the first day of term.
Please either complete the Free School Meal Entitlement Checker Form and return it to the Thomas Coram School Office or apply online at HCC Free School Meals

Further information from the DfE can be found here.

Big Green Thank you

A big thank you from the Green Guardians for participating in The Big Green week. We have worn green, picked litter in the school grounds and velvet lawn, watched an online lesson and powered down today.

Every child in the federation has been given a small envelope with sunflower seeds for them to plant at home. Please keep us updated with how they are growing and we will see who can grow the tallest sunflower!

Joint Children's and Young People Commissioning Service

The Joint Children's and Young People Commissioning Service have asked us to highlight the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Community Navigation project.

 This project is designed to connect Children and Young People (CYP) with SEND with community-based activities, improve their health and wellbeing, and enhance their social networks.

The SEND section on the Hertfordshire Directory has become a wealth of information for families, including children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) when looking for activities in Hertfordshire. There is some information here  and more can be found at: www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/SENDdirectory
