This Week
What a crazy first week back with the up and down weather. We certainly felt it in Chessington on Wednesday, but it did not dampen our spirits and the children were absolutely fantastic despite being rather soggy! Year 6 had a fab day and it is always such a highlight for them! The rest of the school have also been busy this week as it has been assessment week! Everyone has tried super hard and been so resilient and I am extremely proud of every child. Can I please ask that you do not allow children to bring in World Cup/Football cards - I have spoken with the children today about this and they know not to bring them in. We have had some disagreements over the cards and therefore are not allowed to be traded in school. Thank you for your support with this. I hope everyone has a lovely weekend and look forward to seeing you all again next week.
Captain's Club
On Friday's for the rest of Summer term, the children at ASC will be having a picnic style tea. This will include a wrap, crisps, crudities and a biscuit.

From September 2026, an ASC session at Captain's Club will be £17.00. We have also changed our terms and conditions and you will now require to have available funds on your account to make a booking. We appreciate that Arbor isn't always the most user friendly and the first term might take some getting used to, however we hope that 3 months notice will help you to plan for this. Please see our updated September 2026 info on our website.

Worship
This week Finland and Father Stuart led our worship on The Conversations of Saul and how and why he changed his name to Paul. Yesterday, Miss Fielding led worship with Picture News and thought about what hope is and what it means and today we celebrated out Values in Action - well done Team TC!
Phone Letter
As you know we have written a letter in collaboration with the other primary Heads in Berkhamsted. The letter outlines our approach from September and I wanted to add a little more context here. Mobile Phones at TC are not used and are handed in straight away and not returned until the end of the day. I actively tell children to put phones and ear pods away when on the gate so that they are ready to learn and from September we are actively discouraging parents form buying them. This is the decision all of the primary schools and governing bodies have made jointly. I appreciate some parents are not happy with this decision and would like them banned altogether. I would suggest coming together in year groups and making that joint stand together as parents as some other parents have done in other local primary schools.
Free School Meal Eligibility from September 2026
As some of you may be aware the eligibility criteria for FSM is changing from the 1st September.  If your family receives universal credit (UC) you will be entitled to receive FSM. There will be two categories;
Targeted FSM - which continues to be based on the existing threshold, covering pupils who are in households in receipt of UC with annual household earnings of £7,400 or less.
Expanded FSM - a new category covering pupils who do not qualify for targeted FSM, but who are in households receiving UC.
Receiving FSM does not mean your child is automatically entitled to receive pupil premium. If you think you may be entitled to benefit related FSM from September you will need to make an application. Applications for FSM for September are open now and you can apply either via the form or link below.  If you have not applied by the first day of term we cannot guarantee your child will receive FSM from the first day of term.
Please either complete the Free School Meal Entitlement Checker Form and return it to the  Thomas Coram School Office or apply online at HCC Free School Meals
