Notices and Reminders
This week, our whole school worships have been led by Mrs Cutler with the Year 6 Reflective Leaders, Father Stuart and 3NH. Continuing with the value of Responsibility, we have been reflecting on the importance of using our gifts wisely. Fr Stuart used the parable of the Prodigal Son to illustrate this, whilst Mrs Cutler retold the parable of the Three Servants. We have all thought about the things we are good at, whether it is a talent for sport, reading, art or kindness and making friends, and how we can use our special gifts to make our school, home and local community a better place.
We enjoyed welcoming Father Stuart for his first live worship which two of our Year 6 classes attended as a bubble. The rest of the school watched via our live stream. It was very unfortunate that the air ambulance chose that time to make a brief stop on our school field!
Next week will be a busy week in school. On Wednesday, we shall be marking Armistice Day with two minutes silence. We are encouraging children and adults to wear a poppy to school. Friday 13 September is Children in Need. We shall be supporting this annual event by allowing children to wear something spotty to school in exchange for a donation of £1.
A reminder that children should now be wearing the winter uniform: navy blue sweatshirt or cardigan (with school logo); tie (red/yellow striped); school shirt (white long-sleeve with collar); grey school skirt or long trousers; black or white socks, plain black opaque or wool tights and black shoes. The Friends of Thomas Coram has plenty of second-hand uniform for sale, in addition to coats. Please contact the FOTC if you require any extra clothing. email@example.com
A reminder that if you would like your child(ren) to have Christmas lunch this year, you need to order by MONDAY 9 NOVEMBER. Herts Catering Ltd provides the school meal service in the vast majority of Hertfordshire schools, nearly all of whom have Christmas dinner within the last week of term; our food order has to be with them by their deadline to enable them to order from their suppliers, hence the deadline for orders is next week. If your child prefers to have a packed lunch that day, they will sit with their friends and staff regardless of their meal.
Attendance is vitally important in ensuring the children make progress and we would like to congratulate pupils in 4RD (best class); Y3 (best year group) and Malala (best house) for their excellent attendance during the month of October. Year 3 has the best attendance so far this academic year.
The Friends of Thomas Coram are working hard to put together some socially distanced Christmas fund raisers for the school so please keep your eyes peeled for further information. They have also sent up an Amazon Smile account: follow this link and select start shopping. Log into your Amazon account this will then give you the option to always support Thomas Coram. When you do your shopping go to www.smileamazon.co.uk.
Working from home
As you know, England is subject to national restrictions until 2 December 2020. As a result of this, there are new national restrictions which impact on educational and childcare settings. Staff who are deemed as "extremely clinically vulnerable are advised to work from home and not to go into work".
Mrs Parker, our Senco, is happy for us to share with you that she falls into this category and is now working from home, in line with government guidance. She can still be contacted via the school office.
