Notices and Reminders
''Always give thanks for everything to God the Father" Ephesians 5.20
This week at Thomas Coram
I cannot believe we are at half term already! It has gone incredibly quickly and has been a busy, but great half term. This week we had a celebration day for Black History Month, where we celebrated influential black sports stars, musicians and artists. I have seen some fantastic artwork that has been created and loved walking into Year 6 hearing Stormzy ‘Blinded by your light’ being played. I have also seen some fantastic artwork from Year 5 pupils this week based around The Vikings and have heard all about Beowulf. We have also been lucky enough to take part in the cross-country event at Ashlyns, which saw us take around 180 children – which is incredible! All of the children were impeccably behaved and really enjoyed the opportunity to take part. They showed such enthusiasm despite the pretty dreadful weather! I hope everyone has an enjoyable and restful half term and I am looking forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday 31st October.
On Monday, we looked at our new value of responsibility and thought about how we can ensure we are responsible with our words and use kind words, as otherwise people can be upset with what we say. On Wednesday our worship was led by Father Stuart, he looked at responsibility and how we need to be responsible for our actions.
Please ensure children are coming to school in jumpers and coats after half term, as the weather will be significantly colder. Please also remember to label your child’s uniform, even just with a biro name on the label, this will then ensure it is able to be returned to your child.
New Lunch Menu
After half term there will be a new menu. Please find it here.
Parents Evening / Parent Forum / Volunteers
Parents Evening will be held after half term on Tuesday 1st November 5pm – 8pm and Thursday 3rd November 4-7pm. I will be signing people up to be the Parent Forum Reps if classes have any vacancies. I will also be asking if there are any people who would like to offer some of their time to volunteer within in school to hear children read, offer a service they provide, teach us a skill etc.
The deadline for applying for a secondary school place closes on Monday 31 October 2022. Any applications received after this date will be considered as late. We strongly recommend that you apply before the deadline or you may not get your first choice of school. Information can be found here.
If your child is absent from school due to illness, please contact the school by 9.30am. Please let us know the reason for your child's absence. Unwell is not a suitable explanation and we need to know if they are sick, have a cold, have a temperature etc. Thank you for your co-operation.
We are supporting Berkhamsted Rotary club by selling tickets for the Firework display via school. Ticket prices are Adult £9.00, Under 16 £6.00 and Family (2 adults, 2 under 16) £23.00 they are now available for purchase from the school office. Further details of the event can be found here. Thomas Coram will receive £1 for each adult and child ticket sold through school and £4 per family ticket.
