Notices and Reminders

"Responsibility"

This week, our whole school worships have been led by Mrs Cutler, Olivia and 6SW. The value we are focusing on over the next four weeks is Responsibility. We have been encouraging each other to think carefully about how we speak about other people.

Parent consultations
Our first virtual parent consultations have taken place this week. Thank you to those parents and carers who have given us such positive feedback on their experience. The second round of parent consultations takes place next week; the window for booking appointments is now closed.

Headteacher awards
All the children have been working hard this half term. During our Friday worship, Mrs Cutler handed out 69 Bronze Headteacher awards, 6 Silver Headteacher awards and the first Gold Headteacher award of the term.

281 Anniversary
This Saturday, 17 October, marks 281 years since Thomas Coram was granted a Royal Charter by King George II to establish the Foundling Hospital. This was the first purpose built home for children whose mothers were unable to care for them because of poverty or social exclusion. His actions remind us of the sense of responsibility he showed towards the Foundlings.

Social distancing
The school continues to receive reports of children and parents from multiple year groups gathering at the playground on Velvet Lawn after school. Given our collective responsibility to keep all our community safe, can we please remind you,  as we have the children, the importance of adherence to Covid-19 guidance and your role in protecting the school community (children and staff) as well as all those with whom you come into contact. Once again, we ask for your support in reiterating this message to your children.

Staffing update
As we move towards half term, we shall be saying goodbye to several members of staff: Mrs Ratcliffe (Year 5 teaching assistant) and Mr Ehiogu (1:1 Learning Support Assistant), and Miss Collins (Year4/5 class teacher). We all wish them well for the future.  After half term, we shall be welcoming Mrs Barrett (Year 5 teaching assistant), Miss Merrill and Mr Jopp (1:1 Learning Support Assistants). Mrs Rhodes will be taking over Miss Collins' teaching role.

Fireworks
Berkhamsted Rotary are offering a virtual fireworks display this year on Saturday 7 November, further details can be found by following this link www.berkobang.org.

Secondary transfer application
The deadline for applications is 31 October 2020. Please make sure you have applied by this date.

Covid notification
The admin@thomascoram.herts.sch.uk email address is monitored seven days a week. If your child has a confirmed positive test result please contact the school office immediately. If it is at the weekend this should be done via email.
