Notices and Reminders

"God loves a cheerful giver.' 2 Corinthians 9.7

Worship
This week, our whole school worships have been led by Mrs Cutler with the Year 6 reflective leaders, Chloe and 4KS. We have been reflecting on 'Giving our time' as this week's theme for the value of Generosity. In particular, we have considered how much can be achieved if everyone gave a bit of their time and we all worked together, just as the families helped to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem in the story from the Old Testament.

Secondary Transfer
Hertfordshire Admissions have recommended that you make your application for a secondary school place by Friday 22 October, so any queries can be dealt with by Admissions ahead of the deadline of 31 October 2021. Applications can be made here.

News from the Governors
The federation governing body has published their annual governance statement about the work they did last year, and the plan for this year. Click here to read their statement.

Census Day Lunch Menu
On behalf of Herts Catering Ltd, we would like to apologise for the mix up with the Census Day lunch menu. Mrs Cutler and Mr Halls are liaising with HCL to see how we can rectify the disappointment caused to the children (and parents).

Captains Club
Bookings for next term will be open to all from Monday 11 October.

Cross Country event at Ashlyns
Next Tuesday, over half of the school will be attending the cross-country event at Ashlyns. Pupils in Years 3 and 4 will be participating in the morning, whilst pupils in Years 5 and 6 will be representing the school in the afternoon. If your child is taking part, please remember to send them in the appropriate PE kit and with an additional pair of shoes to change into on return to school.

Road Safety
The school is once again supporting Hertfordshire's 'Be Bright, Be Seen' campaign. As the darker evenings are approaching, can we ask parents and carers to remind their children about crossing the road safely, namely finding a safe place to cross the road and remind them about parked cars. Following their Bikeability training, Year 6 pupils have now been presented with their certificates and badges.

Fireworks
Berkhamsted Rotary are delighted to be running a covid safe fireworks display this year at the cricket club on Saturday 6 November. Tickets can be bought from the school office and if bought in advance cost £8 for an adult, £5 (under 16), free for under fives and £22 for a family ticket (2 adults, 2 children).

Friends of Thomas Coram News
Thank you to everyone who has signed up to the disco which is Friday 15 October.  Tickets sold out in record time but we have been able to extend the numbers as the gym is available. The last few tickets are still available, click here to book. The deadline to buy tickets is Tuesday 12 October at 3.30pm.

Friday 15 October - Disco - Year 3 & 4 disco straight after school to 4.45pm
                                               Year 5 & 6 5.00pm - 6.30pm

  • Trainers MUST be worn. We cannot let children into the gym if they do not have trainers as it will damage the gym floor.
  • Children can bring clothes into school to change into for the disco if they wish.
  • Year 5 & 6 children are unable to enter school before 5.00pm (they are not able to come into school straight from Game on) as there will be no one available to take responsibility for them until 5.00pm.
  • Goody bags are available on the booking form (please select this option). All children receive fruit, crisps and a drink on arrival.
  • Thank you to people who have offered to help, we really appreciate this. Please could helpers arrive at school at 3.00pm (Year 3 & 4 disco) and 4.45pm (Year 5 & 6 disco).
