Notices and Reminders

"Tell the truth to each other" Zechariah 8.16

Worship
This week, our whole school worships have been led by 4FG and Olivia. We have been reflecting on seeing the truth. Olivia used a game, 2 truths and a lie, to introduce this theme, before asking us what we knew about Jesus. Olivia read the story about The Boy Jesus at the Temple to show that even his parents on earth, Mary and Joseph, had to ask questions to find their son and learn more about him.

Learning outside the classroom
On Thursday, we enjoyed a whole school art day learning about Japanese art. The children studied Shodo calligraphy; made an Uchiwa (handheld) fan using watercolours, as well as studying the work of the Japanese artists Yayoi Kusama (also known as the princess of polka dots). They produced a montage of polka dot pumpkins. A competition was held to design a mascot for the Tokyo Olympic Games which begins next week. The standard was incredibly high with entries ranging from lucky nodding cats, dragons to marshal arts and geisha. Some were influenced by manga. The top three were: Kieran in Year 5 with his blossom design; Lois in Year 3 with her Olympic cat and Amelie in Year 5 with her snow monkey.

We ended the week with our annual sports day, although the format was changed to ensure we all remained safe within our bubbles. Team games of rounders and hockey took place, as well as Rapid Fire, gold and archery, and the more traditional track events.

Living the school values
Our core values are Respect, Responsibility and Friendship. Over the year, there have been many examples of our children living out these values. As the school comes to an end, Mrs Parker, our Senco, would like to thank: Cora, Chris, Ollie B, Harvey, Emily and Marcus in Year 6. They have all been a valued member of a 'Circle of Friends' for a child in their class and supported them to have positive playground experiences.

Home Start
Home-start is very lucky to have dedicated and selfless individuals who give up their own time to help support families who are facing challenges. Their mentors enable Home-Start to provide valuable  emotional and practical support to families, so that parents can help their children thrive and give them the best start possible in life.

They have reached out to us to help spread the work that Home-Start Herts is recruiting more Volunteer Mentors in order to support the families referred to us. Please click here to find out more.
