Notices and Reminders

"Tell the truth to each other" Zechariah 8.16

This week, our whole school worships have been led by Mrs Cutler, Father Stuart and 6SW. We have been reflecting on searching for the truth. Mrs Cutler shared a retelling of The Parables of the Hidden treasure, whilst Father Stuart used images to explain how we can search for the truth of God's love using everyday artefacts and places. 6SW reminded us all about the importance of telling the truth using the stories of the Honest Woodcutter and Aesop's fable of the boy who cried wolf.

Friends of Thomas Coram
On Friday, the school held a non-uniform day to raise funds for the Friends of Thomas Coram. Thank you to all parents and carers for their donations. Further fund raising activities will be announced shortly.

Sports Day - Thursday 8 July
We are delighted to be able to hold an adapted version of our school sports day this year. Although parents/carers cannot attend, our pupils will have great fun participating in a range of team games in their bubbles, earning points for their house throughout the day. Pupils will need to come into school in their school PE shorts and a top of their house colour - red for Pankhurst, yellow of Malala, green for Mandela and blue for Luther King. Pupils will also need a water bottle and should come to school wearing sunscreen and a hat as they will be outside all day. We will update our PE Twitter with photos throughout the day and the winning house will be revealed shortly before the end of the day. In case of wet weather, Friday 9 July is the reserve day, with Year 4 pupils completing their activities on another day due to their visit.

Sports activities
We'd like to thank Berkhamsted and Hemel Hempstead Hockey club for providing taster sessions for some of our pupils this half term. The children have also been playing rounders and tennis during their PE lessons. Check out Thomas Coram School PE Twitter account for more information.

Laptop loans
We would like to request that all laptops and Chromebooks which were loaned out to pupils for remote/home learning are returned to school by Friday 16 July. Devices will be reissued at the beginning of the autumn term to support requests associated with homework.

News from the Hospice of St Francis
The last 15 months have been difficult at The Hospice of St Francis. As the world slowly opens up, they have put together a programme of COVID-secure events that will enable them to raise funds to support the vital care that they provide to patients and families in the community.

One of these events is a series of Car Boot Sales in Dudswell Field, HP4 3TA where they are encouraging people to come and recycle their pre-loved, unwanted items by selling them on rather than throwing them away. These are running on the 2nd Saturday of each month, with the next sale taking place on Saturday 10 July.  Please click here for further information.

Lunch payment
If your child has school lunches please make sure their account is in credit. Thank you.

DSPL8 News
We'd like to remind you about the CREATE-Covid Response programme which is being run by Dacorum Family Services. Next week's sessions are all about Sleep, with two Zoom sessions being run: Monday 5 July at 6.30pm and Tuesday 6 July at 10am. Click here for further details.

Climate Action Schools survey
Sustainable Hertfordshire ( Hertfordshire County Council) and Herts for Learning are working together in partnership on Climate Action Schools. Sustainable Hertfordshire has created a short survey for parents and pupils to complete. The survey will take no longer than 5 minutes and asks participants whether they agree or disagree on certain statements relating to climate change.  The survey will close on Friday 30 July. Click to share your views: https://surveys.hertfordshire.gov.uk/s/ClimateActionMonth/

Covid email
Remember if your child exhibits Covid symptoms and you book a test at any time, including over the weekend, don't forget to let us know and also the test result when you receive it.  Please note that if a positive test is confirmed over the weekend that the school admin account is not monitored: please use the covid@thomascoram.herts.sch.uk email.
