Notices and Reminders

"I did not come to be served, but to serve." Matthew 20.28

This week, our whole school worships have been led by Mrs Cutler supported by Year 5 pupils, Olivia and 4RD. This half term, we are reflecting on the value of the Truth; this week our focus has been on 'telling the whole story.' This was vividly and humorously brought to life by 4RD's worship using the class to re-enact an incident which appeared to show the whole class (bar one pupil) had been responsible for an unfortunate incident whilst Mr Donald's back was turned. It was only when Mr Donald asked each child what had happened that the truth was discovered: the chaos in the classroom was caused by one child sneezing!

Learning outside the classroom
At the start of the week, Year 5 pupils visited Go Ape at Wendover Woods. They enjoyed the challenges of the Treetop Adventure - the wobbly wooden bridge, the high rope challenges, Stepping Stones and 85 - metre zip wire to name a few, as well as the ground based 'gorilla' games which helped them to develop team building skills such as communication and leadership.

Next week, our Year 6 pupils hare having an activity week to replace the traditional residential visit. On Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday coaches will need access to the turning circle in front of the school in the mornings, and at the end of the school day on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Please can all parents and carers who park in the area ensure they do not block access to the turning circle; you may be asked to move to avoid your car being hit as the corner is very tight for coaches to turn in. The pupils will need to be in school promptly on those days; parents and carers of children in Year 6 need to ensure they remind their children to arrive at school on time so the trips are not delayed.

Activities are also being arranged for pupils in the lower school; details of these will be shared with parents and carers shortly.

With the warmer weather having arrived, children do not have to wear their school ties to school until further notice. Please ensure your child has a named water bottle and named hat to offer protection. Please click here to check our sun protection guidance.

Face coverings
At present we're still encouraging and recommending that parents and staff wear a face covering at drop off and collection. We know that other schools have begun to relax their guidance already (based on an assessment of the clinical vulnerability of their own staff and/or pupils) and we hope to be able to review our guidelines from 21 June.

Change to published lunch menu
Monday's Green option is Cheese and Tomato pizza wraps not the vegetarian meatballs.

DSPL8 News
We'd like to remind you about the CREATE-Covid Response programme which is being run by Dacorum Family Services. Next week's sessions are all about Routines, with two Zoom sessions being run: Monday 14 June at 6.30pm and Tuesday 15 June at 10am. Click here for further details.
