Notices and Reminders
'A friend is always loyal, and a brother is born to help in time of need' Proverbs 17.17.
This week our whole school worships have been led by Mrs Cutler and the Year 6 Reflective Leaders, Father Joe and 3SG. Continuing with our value of Friendship, we have been reflecting on how important it is to listen to one another.
Teamwork and co-operation have once again been evident over the past week. Tuesday saw our Year 3 footballers play against a team from Bovingdon. They won by an impressive 5-2. A team of Y5/6 children has been part of the DSSN Aspire + Develop football league over the last few months, reaching the final of their league. On Tuesday, they played the league final against Hobletts Manor at the The Hemel Hempstead School as part of the final's celebration event. The team started off very strong and went 1-0 up in the first half. After half-time, Hobletts Manor equalised and it was 1-1. The team continued to work hard with determination and scored with only 40 seconds left of the game! Finishing with a score of 2-1 to Thomas Coram, we are now league champions! A special mention to Riley in Year 6, who after scoring the winning goal, consoled the goalkeeper of the opposing team.
Wednesday saw a group of Year 5 children attending our first ever badminton event. The event was a carousel of skill activities and they had to score as many points as they could. (They achieved the highest score in 3 activities). On Thursday, 20 Year 6 girls took part in the Dacorum Sports Network Netball Tournament. They played amazingly well and both teams finished 4th out of the 8 teams in their pools.
We are immensely proud of all these achievements, the children's resilience and teamwork.
The final parent forum meeting for this year took place on Wednesday evening. You can read the minutes of the meeting by clicking here: Parent Forum Minutes 18/05/2022
Please can we ask you to make sure that all uniform is labelled as the mound of lost property is ever increasing.
Trips and visits
As we approach the final half term of this academic year, a number of trips are being organised. Please can we ask parents and carers to ensure that deadlines are met for payments and permissions.
- Year 6 Activity week
The Year 6 parent meeting for the trip to Green Park is Monday 23 May at 7.00pm. This is being held in the Gym. This is also the deadline to complete the from with medical information and emergency contacts.
- Whipsnade Zoo - Year 3
Year 3 will be going on a day trip to Whipsnade Zoo on Thursday 9 June. Further details will be sent out on Monday.
- Go Ape - Year 5
Please can we remind all parents who have children in Year 5 to confirm if their child is going to Go Ape by Monday 23 May. This is so we do not purchase unnecessary tickets. Many thanks to all the parents who volunteered to help; we now have enough and everyone who offered help should have received an email.
Hayley's Channel Relay Swim for Aspire
Hayley Hobley, the mother of a Year 5 pupil, is celebrating her 40th birthday this year by taking on a relay swim in the English Channel for the spinal injury charity Aspire. With her team of 6 swimmers, she will swim from Dover to France in the English Channel. She will encounter the cold (14-16 degrees in a swimsuit - no wetsuits allowed) waters of one of the world's busiest shipping lanes. The straight-line distance from Dover to Calais is a gruelling 21 miles, but due to tidal currents and weather conditions, it will likely end up covering 28+ miles and taking anywhere between 16 to 25 hours to compete.
Hayley is holding a charity Relay Swim Fundraiser BOWLS FUN AFTERNOON on Sunday 29th May 1-4pm at Berkhamsted Bowls Club and would love for and your family to come along. It will be an opportunity to try out the game of Bowls, have a burger or hot dog from the BBQ, enjoy a drink from the bar and buy a raffle ticket or two.
