Notices and Reminders

"God loves a cheerful giver.' 2Corinthians 9.7

This week our whole school worships were led by Mrs Cutler and the Year 6 Reflective Leaders for this year, and Miss Williamson. Our theme this week has been giving sacrificially. Mrs Cutler shared the story of the Generous Widow, who gave the most as her offering in the temple because she gave everything she had. We also had our first singing assembly for over 18 months led by Mr Halls.

Acts of Kindness
It was lovely to hear how one of our pupils has been living out the value of generosity. Josie in Year 4, together with her younger sister, held a front yard sale during the summer holidays. They raised £50 by selling toys and books they no longer need; this money has been donated to Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Meet the Teacher
It was wonderful to welcome so many of you to our Meet the Teacher evening this week and we would like to thank you for your continued support and interest in your children's education. Mrs Cutler shared the school's vision and values with parents and outlined the school priorities for this year. Parents and carers were also reminded about the school attendance policy. The individual curriculum maps for each year group are now available to view on our school website. Click on the Learning tab and view the maps under 'Our Curriculum.'

Individual photographs
Don't forget the online cut off date for orders to be posted free of charge back to school is Wednesday 22 September 2021.

Parent Forum
The school is looking to establish a parent forum this year; parents and carers who are interested in participating should contact Mrs Cutler via the school office: admin@thomascoram.herts.sch.uk

Change to published lunch menu
As a result of supplier shortages, the menu for the next week is now as follows:

Monday: Italiano chicken/ Macaroni cheese

Tuesday: Roast pork/ Quorn fillet

Wednesday: Beef bolognaise/ Vegetarian sausages

Thursday and Friday menus remain unchanged.

A reminder that the school has a healthy snack policy: pupils are able to bring fresh fruit and/or vegetables to eat during the mid-morning break.

After school sports clubs
Children attending after school sports clubs should only come to school in PE kits if their class has PE on the same day. Those children attending a sports club on non PE days are able to change at the end of the school day into their PE/sports kit.

Covid-19 reminder
Whilst the restrictions in place last academic year are no longer required, we remain cautious in school. Please continue to be vigilant and do not send your child to school if they have any of the three classic symptoms (high temperature, persistent cough, loss of taste or sense of smell). If your child tests positive for Covid-19 please notify the school immediately. Close contacts are advised to take a PCR test; this will support the school in our endeavour to avoid any outbreaks of infection that may result in the temporary reintroduction of stricter protective measures. These measures are in the best interests of our children, staff and parents and carers.

Berkhamsted Great Big Green Week
Berkhamsted Great Big Green Week, organised by Climate Action Berkhamsted, is taking place between 18 an 26 September. In school, we shall be encouraging everyone to turn off the lights when a room is not in use, to opt for the Green lunch menu or bring in a meat free lunch or to walk/scoot/cycle to school that week. To find out more about different activities being held across the week, click here.

Harvest Appeal
This year, DENS is unable to accept food donations to the the Foodbank, due to temporarily relocating and minimal storage space. Instead, the school has decided to support the HOPE foodbank at Kings Road Church. A list will be sent next week with a list of items which can be donated.

Please remember to check your child's Wisepay account and top up if necessary.
