Notices and Reminders
To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. Micah 6:8
This week at Thomas Coram
What a cold an unexpected week we have had! The children were so excited when it started snowing at lunchtime on Tuesday and that excitement continued, on Wednesday, when they came into school and saw all the snow on the field. I for one am hoping this is the last of the snow and we can start to enjoy beautiful, crisp Spring mornings. Today in worship, I spoke to the children about being unkind to one another, we have had quite a few incidents of children saying unkind things, in the heat of the moment and disagreeing over games at break and lunch. All of the children agreed this was not a good thing to be happening in school and said saying unkind words was not a TC thing to do. Please can you also reiterate this with the children.
Worship
On Monday, we looked at justice again and seeing things from both perspectives, sometimes we only see one point, but it is really important to listen to both sides. On Wednesday, Father Joe led worship around our value of justice. On Thursday, Mrs Bruguier led singing assembly and the children could be heard singing down the corridors.
Reading Raffle
Reminder, to ensure you are reading with your child at least four times per week to ensure they have their name entered for the reading raffle. This will enable them to be in with a chance to win afternoon tea with me.
Outdoor Learning Day
Next Tuesday (14 March 2023), we will be celebrating an outdoor learning day, please ensure the children have a coat with them and if you want to bring in waterproofs that is fine. If your child has wellies please do send them in with wellies or an old pair of shoes also.
Red Nose Day
Friday 17th March is Red Nose Day, please come in something red, with your uniform. Children should not be in non – uniform, it could be red socks, a red top, red trousers etc. With their uniform on. After school club changing
I clarified today with the children, what they need to do for after school club changing. If children need to get changed for an after-school club, Year 3 and 4 children will get changed in their class, Year 5 will get changed separately girls in the library and boys in a Year 5 class. Year 6 will also get changed separately and will get changed in the Year 6 classes.
Phones
A reminder to parents that if your child has a phone, please ensure you are monitoring what they are doing and the messages that they are sending. There have been reports of a few unkind messages being sent amongst Year 5 and 6 pupils within groups on WhatsApp. WhatsApp should only be used by children over 16 years of age, so please do keep a check on what is happening if your child is part of a WhatsApp group.
Strike Action
As you may be aware, next week on Wednesday and Thursday it is teacher strike action. If your classes are affected, on these days, you will receive an email separately.
