Notices and Reminders

"Just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you must also forgive others." Colossians 3:13

Worship
This week our whole school worships have been led by Mrs Cutler and the Year 6 Reflective Leaders, Father Joe and 3SB. Our value for this half term is Forgiveness, with our focus this week being 'Wiping the slate clean.' Mrs Cutler explained the origins of the phrase, 'wiping the slate clean' and we reflected on the words of Nelson Mandela, after whom one of our houses is named: As I walked out of the door toward the gate that would lead to my freedom, I knew that if I didn't leave my bitterness and hatred behind, I'd still be in prison.

Father Joe used the story of the Prodigal Son to help us understand the meaning of forgiveness, whilst 3SB used role play and poetry to share how important forgiveness is.

Lunch Options
From Monday, 28 February, the children will be able to select from three options. In addition to the red (meat) and green (vegetarian) options, a jacket potato with a topping  and salad or vegetables has been added to the lunch menu. This will be the the blue option. A range of puddings are on offer everyday including fresh fruit, yoghurts, cheese and biscuits as well as a baked dessert.

Big Book Week
Next week, we are celebrating books. Each Year 3 class is visiting Berkhamsted library. If your child has a library ticket, they can take it with them on the visit to borrow a book. There is still time to join the local library before the visit; forms are available from Berkhamsted library.

On Thursday 3 March, it is World Book Day. This year, in conjunction with our infant feeder schools, we will be marking World Book Day by wearing pyjamas to school, so there is no need to buy a special costume for the day. If your child has PE that day, they may bring their PE kit to school to change into.

Danny Macaskill: The Ridge
Before half term, Year 5 pupils watched a film by Danny Macaskill, a Scottish trials cyclist, from Dunvegan on the Isle of Skye, who works professionally as a street trials/ Mountain bike rider. 'The Ridge' which was filmed along Cuillin Ridge on the Island of Skye was used to inspire the children's descriptive writing. The children were delighted to receive a video message from the cyclist this week. Thank you very much to the parent who organised this.

Parent survey 2021-2022

Friends of Thomas Coram
FOTC have two events on Friday 4 March. The first is a coin count for the children. Please bring in any old coins (including foreign ones) on Friday. Let's see which class can get the most (mass not volume). They are also holding a Quiz Night on the fourth starting at 8.00pm and need a couple more teams to make it feasible. Please get your tickets from the FOTC Box Office.
