Notices and Reminders
"Love your neighbour as yourself." Mark 12.31
This week, our whole school worship was led by Mrs Cutler, Father Joe and 5DH. Our value for the next five weeks is Generosity. We have been reflecting on how we can test how generous we are being to others by thinking about whether we are being as good to them as we are being to ourselves.
Last weekend, four Year 6 pupils demonstrated generosity by giving their time to represent the school at the dedication of the New War Memorial at Rectory Lane Cemetery, by leading the Act of Commitment.
Dacorum Young Artists competition
We would like to congratulate Poppy R in Year 6 whose artwork was judged 'Best in School' in the Dacorum Young Artists competition organised by Rotary. Her entry will be on display at the Open Door Gallery on the High Street between 20 September and 1 October.
National Governance Association (NGA) Awards
We are delighted to announce that Castle Church of England Federation was the winner of the Outstanding Governance in a Federation category at the Outstanding Governance Awards held at the House of Commons this week. These awards recognise the substantial and valuable contribution of governors, trustees and governance professionals to the education of children and young people.
Learning this week
A range of sports have been covered in this week's PE lessons: two Year 6 classes started swimming lessons, whilst in Year 5 the children are having hockey lessons from Berkhamsted Hockey Club. In Year 3, the children have started to learn archery whilst in Year 4 they have started gymnastics.
Meet the Teacher
A reminder that we are holding our face to face 'Meet the Teacher' evening on Monday 13 September. Presentations for parents and carers of children in Years 3 and 4 start at 6pm, followed by a talk by Mrs Cutler in the hall. Year 5 and Year 6 teachers will be meeting their pupils' parents and carers at 7pm, followed by a talk from Mrs Cutler at 7.30pm.
On Monday, the green (vegetarian) option is cheese and tomato pizza wraps instead of the published veggie meatballs.

Year 6 Bikeability
The much-postponed Bikeability training for some of our Year 6 pupils will be taking place during the week commencing 20 September. Those participating will need to wear clothes appropriate for cycling and the weather conditions, for example coats and gloves if it is wet or cold. Their school PE kits (joggers or leggings) are suitable. They will also need a correctly fitting cycle helmet. As this training is being held over from last year, unfortunately no further spaces are available.
