Notices and Reminders

"Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go" Joshua 1.9

This week our whole school worships have been led by Mrs Cutler, Chloe and 3SG. Our theme has been trusting in God's promises. Using a painting by the nuns at Turvey Abbey, we explored the story of Simeon and Anna who were promised by God that they would see the Saviour of the World before they died, whilst Chloe shared the story of Sarah and Abraham who were promised a child by God. 3SG shared with us promises they have made and used the story of Noah's Ark as an example of trusting in God's promises.

Visitors in school
Although next week is Feeling Good Week, this Friday, Bigfoot Arts Education visited the school, and each Year 3 class participated in a workshop with the Worry Wizard. The children took park in activities to help develop their emotional literacy; to develop their sense of self-worth, belief and courage and to learn skills that will help them to manage their worries. Thank you to the Friends of Thomas Coram for the financial support with this event.

We also welcomed our Hertfordshire Improvement Partner, Beccy Roberts, on Tuesday. She spent the day in school visiting lessons, talking to pupils and staff about how writing is taught across the school. She commented on the high-quality writing on display which celebrated the children's achievements.

Parent Consultations
Thank you to those parents who attended parent consultations this week, either remotely or face-to-face. We hope you enjoyed viewing your children's work in their books. A reminder that next week, the parent consultations are for Years 5 & 6 on Tuesday 8 February and Years 3 & 4 on Thursday 10 February.

On the evening of your appointment, we would ask parents to wear a face covering in the communal areas of the school, to use the hand sanitiser in reception on arrival and to arrive 10 minutes before your appointment to view your child's books. There will be signs to direct you to where your child's consultation is taking place.

A reminder to parents/carers in 4KD, your child's books will be available to view after school until 5pm on Monday 7 February.

Second hand uniform will also be available to view and purchase on consultation evenings.

Feeling Good Week ( 7 - 11 February)
Next week, a range of activities aimed at boosting the children's emotional and mental wellbeing are taking place. These include Street Dance lessons for Year 6, and Circus Skills for Years 4 and 5.

A reminder that Monday 7 February, Dr Kathy Weston will be delivering a talk at 7.30pm for parents of children at Thomas Coram, Victoria and Swing Gate schools.

Over 110 parents have now registered for this event, which is being held on-line. You can still reserve your place by clicking here

On Friday 11 February, we are offering the children and staff to opportunity to 'feel good' by wearing 'something comfy' to school. If your child has a PE lesson that day, please ensure that any clothing is suitable to participate in this lesson.

Extreme Reading
Over half term, Mrs Rawlings, our librarian, is running a competition to find Thomas Coram's most extreme reader! More details here.

Attendance is vitally important in ensuring the children make progress and we would like to congratulate pupils in 5DH (best class); Y5 (best year group) and Pankhurst (best house) for their excellent attendance in January. Year 5 has the best attendance so far this academic year.

Checking in with friends
Maintaining links with family and friends is one of the most important factors in maintaining good mental health. Take care of friendships with those you can really confide in, have a laugh with, and who make you feel better about yourself.

There is nothing better than a friend..apart from a friend with chocolate!
