Notices and Reminders
'Let us run with perseverance the race that lies before us.' Hebrews 12.1-2
This week, our whole school worships have been led by Mrs Cutler and Olivia. We have been reflecting on how we need to keep going when obstacles make tasks impossible and we want to give up. Mrs Cutler shared the painting 'The Flight into Egypt' by James Tissot to illustrate how Mary and Joseph persevered on their journey to Egypt to escape Herod and stay safe. We also listened to the story of a modern day refugee who fled Iraq to travel to Greece. Olivia shared the story of Nehemiah who faced the challenge of rebuilding Jerusalem but with the support of others, and strength and determination persevered in his task.
Our children and staff continue to show perseverance with their remote learning, especially when there are problems with the technology. Year 3 children have been producing their own news reports about Little Red Riding Hood and the Three Little Pigs. They have been creative in their use of resources and extremely enjoyable for the staff to watch.
Thank you to those parents and carers who responded to last week's survey. Mrs Cutler will be sending out a letter next week with responses to the comments.
Acts of Kindness
It is lovely to hear how our pupils live out the values and vision of our school, especially during these difficult times. William B has raised just under £1300 to be share between Crisis, Cancer Research and the MS Society by cycling 33.4 miles on Boxing day with his father. He was inspired to fund raise after noticing a homeless person on Berkhamsted High Street just before Christmas. William's goal was to cycle 35 miles and raise £75 for each charity; not only has he smashed his goal but he kept fit at the same time. Well done William!
eSafety Talk for Parents - Wednesday 10 Febuary 7- 8.30pm
Please save the date of this joint event for parents of children at Victoria, Thomas Coram and Swing Gate Schools. This essential eSafety session will help parents understand the latest trends and associated issues surrounding primary age online activity, tell them how to spot potential problems, reduce risk, and offer some helpful pointers for keeping your child as safe as possible when using electronic devices. The presenter, Richard Maskrey, has over 20 years experience as a teacher, school leader and Hertfordshire county lead for eSafety. He now runs an education consultancy specialising in online safety. Having presented eSafety advice on ITV's Good Morning Britain and having two school aged children of his own, he is well-placed to offer good advice on this important subject. It will be a live event on MS Teams and the link for you to join will be sent out via Groupcall in the 24 hours before the event.
