Notices and Reminders

And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9

This week at Thomas Coram
It has been another chilly but beautiful week; we are so lucky to have such an amazing space here at TC and it looks so beautiful on those cold frozen mornings. The children really enjoyed their session with Natalie Costa this week on having the power to learn from our mistakes. They thought about the mistakes that they make and how they can learn from those mistakes and that making a mistake is a good thing as that is how we learn. I hope the video Natalie provided for parents was also helpful. As I mentioned last week, the whole school have been looking at a book ‘The Wisp’ and creating beautiful and meaningful pieces of work based around it. I have walked round today and seen some amazing pieces that have been put up on display and I am really excited for you to come in next week to see the work. What was also joyful to hear this week: were the Year 5’s practising for Young Voices, it was delightful to hear them singing in the hall. I am really looking forward to accompanying Year 5 on the Young Voices trip as it is such a spectacular event.

On Monday, we looked at our value: perseverance. We spoke about the story of Mary and Joseph having to leave to go to Egypt because of King Herod and why perseverance was needed in that story. On Wednesday, Father Joe led a worship on rebuilding and having faith in God. On Thursday, we had our whole school singing assembly where the children sang Eye of the Tiger and Lean on Me. 3SG treated us to a class worship on Friday about persevering and keeping on going against all odds. Well done 3SG.

If your child is arriving at school late due to an appointment and they will require a school lunch, then please let the office know what choice your child would like. The numbers are sent to the kitchen at 9.30am and we are not always able to accommodate late requests. Thank you.

We look forward to welcoming Mrs Moore to the Thomas Coram family from Friday.

Book at Bedtime
Please see more details about Book at Bedtime here, which will be held: Thursday 26th January 5:30 – 6:30pm.

Snacks at breaktime
Just a general reminder, for snacks at break, the children should not be provided with sweets, crisps, chocolates and fizzy drinks. Please also ensure the items are nut free.

Reminder – if you have any concerns, please speak to your child’s class teacher face to face or send an email to admin, you can also speak to one of the phase leaders Mrs Giles for Year 3 and 4 and Mrs Munro for Year 5 and 6, Miss Williamson can also be contacted if you have any concerns.

School site
Recent Ofsted inspections have focused heavily on safeguarding, if you need to come onto the school site, please do so via the school office (if it is not a drop off or pick up time) as we cannot have parents walking through the building unless they are accompanied by staff. Can I also please request, that when on school premises appropriate language is used and that you are courteous towards staff members.

A general reminder that the children should have their hair tied up in school, if their hair is past their shoulders.

Changes to lunch menu next week
On Tuesday HCL are celebrating the Chinese New Year and the menu will be as follows.

Red - Chicken Chow Mein

Green - Sweet and Sour Quorn with rice

Dessert will be a cookie.

We would also like to make parents/carers aware that HCL are changing the margarine that is used in schools. The new one is COCONUT OIL based. Please let the office know if your child has an allergy to coconut. Thank you.

Whole School Photo
Your child will be bringing home a ticket today which will enable you to view the photograph on line. You will then be able to purchase one should you wish too.

Road Safety
A reminder to not block the car parking area outside of the school at drop off and pick up times. Please park in the marked bays so people can continue to use the road to get in and out. Please also drive with care as it has been reported there has been some fast vehicles travelling up and down Swing Gate Lane.

Idling cars
Remember to email the office if you would like to be part of our working party to help make the roads safer and reduce pollution! I will be collating the adults we have and emailing out a time to meet next week.
