Welcome to The Thomas Coram Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD) Outreach Service Base. We are situated in The Thomas Coram Church of England School in Berkhamsted. The Base serves 29 Infant and Primary Schools and 1 Special School in Berkhamsted, Hemel Hempstead, Tring and the outlying villages. It is one of 10 primary SpLD Bases organised as part of Hertfordshire’s Outreach Provision to support local Primary and Special schools. The Service ensures access to specialist advice relating to SpLD (Literacy and Numeracy).
The Base team is comprised of Sue Ferguson, Caroline Rennison and Sheran Adlington (SpLD Specialist Teachers) and Vanessa Fulton (Administrator).
Advice and support from Outreach Service staff enhances schools’ capacity to successfully meet the needs of pupils with specific learning difficulties in literacy and numeracy. This is provided through school focused consultations, discussing unnamed pupils, and pupil focused consultations to give specific advice for individual pupils for whom a service request has been made.
In addition, there is provision of advice and support to further develop successful transfer across transition phases.
The Base hosts the local forum for SENCOs and Exceptional Needs meetings for the local cluster.
