The Eco Council consists of 11 class representatives. Children nominate themselves and their peers vote anonymously to pick a rep. The reps are re-elected every term.
The Eco Council’s aim is to make The Thomas Coram Church of England School more sustainable by reducing its energy use and increasing the amount of recycling carried out. Each classroom has battery and paper recycling points. Each cloakroom contains a plastic bottle recycling box.
We currently hold the Bronze Award from EcoSchools and are working towards the Silver Award.
We are trying to encourage the local community to send us their old batteries for recycling. We have an agreement with www.batteryback.org to responsibly recycle any batteries we collect.
