The Eco Council consists of 14 class representatives. Children nominate themselves and their peers vote anonymously to pick a rep. The reps are re-elected every term.
The Eco Council’s aim is to make The Thomas Coram School more sustainable by reducing it’s energy use and increasing the amount of recycling carried out. Each classroom has battery and paper recycling points. Each year area contains a plastic bottle recycling box.
The Thomas Coram School currently holds the Bronze Award from EcoSchools and is working towards the Silver Award.
Currently we are trying to encourage the local community to send us their old batteries for recycling. We have agreed a deal with www.batteryback.org to responsibly recycle any batteries we collect.
